In sharp contrast to recent innuendos against the Vietnamese communists Sihanouk on 14 June presented the IRVN ambassador and NLF representative with 18-2 tons of dried fish and 43 cases of unspecified medicines (all together worth one million riels, about $26, 000)'' for the heroic Vietnamese people'' as a '' New Mark of our solidarity in resistance to American aggression''. Sihanouk repeated firm support for the NLF as the sole and authentic representative of the South Vietnamese people, thus apparently laying to rest the doublets he expressed on 23 May about the NLF's possition in the light of the creation of the alliance of democratic forces''.
