Summary / Abstract :

The speed and extent of the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia took observers here and elsewhere completely by surprise. Last October I received indications that the Vietnamese would launch an offensive in the first week of December with the aim of enlarging the "Liberated zone" in the east and southeast of the country.
