Summary / Abstract :
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the people's republic of China (PRC) and France in 1964 was an important event in post-world war II history. Escaping from the restraints of the rigid cold war alliance structure chairman Mao Zedong and president Charles de Gaulle made the extraordinary move to forge a new partnership base on the geopolitical calculations of countering American-Soviet domination of world affairs the Sino-french normalization marked an end to the long estrangement where neither country had recognized the other.
