India's recognition of the PRK had been long expected . While the timing of it was delayed to take account of ASEAN sensitivities and other factors, the Indians evidently felt they count wait no loger. Recognition of the PRK was one of two specific foreign policy point in the congress (I) election mainfesto of late last year.
