My name is Sum Sok and I currently live in Boeng Ka-ek Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province.
Homicide: In 1975, my family was evacuated from Phnom Penh to our home village. My husband, Kao Sarin, was assigned to work in the plowing unit of this commune. In November 1977, the cooperative chief, Vun, told my husband to go to the granary. Later in the morning, he was transferred to Sang Prison. This incident took place in Boeng Ka-ek Village of Prek Roka Commune. Sang Prison was located in Trapeang Sva Village of Trea Commune. My husband was killed in 1978 by the Khmer Rouge. My younger brother Sum Rim witnessed him being tied up and taken to be executed. My younger brother was also detained in Sang Prison. My husband was arrested because he was a captain during the former regime and also had ties to King Sihanouk. Part C: My name is Sum Sok and I currently live in Boeng Ka-ek Village, Prek Roka Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province. After Vietnamese troops liberated the country in 1979, I could enjoy freedom – going anywhere I wanted no matter how far or near. Later, my family and I went to the former Sang Security Office. There we saw a lot of shackles and human bones. Seeing those items rekindled the memories of my husband, who was detained in that prison, and I burst into tears. The emotion was so painful that I fainted. After returning home from that visit, I became sick. I tried to block the memories from my mind. However, whenever any festivals are celebrated, I cannot prevent myself from remembering, and this has made me constantly feel dizzy. |
