Summary / Abstract :

At the end of Twelfth century , The Khmer Empire stretched as far up the the Mekong as Vientiane . In the last year of the 13th . century the Siamese Kingdom Sukho Thai, newly free Khmer control , extended its way as far as Vientiane, and farther to what was one day to become the site to Luang, Prabang . But for another 1/2 century , the Khmers held on to the down . Stream lands and only abandoned them after the founding of the Laotian state.
