The Laos appear to be making very slow progress towards stabilizing the economic situation, eradicating resistance element and consolidating political control throughout the country. Although Lao authorities introduced a new program last July to make food and other essential supplies available to Vientiane consumers at government controlled prices food and fuel are still in very short supply.
