Sao Chhieng dropped out school because of war in 1970. In 1972, he joined enemy forces in 105 district, then he was sent to attend the military stragety course at Damrey Romiel Mountain for one and a half month. After the training he worked in O Smach and used to attack national forces five times. He was next appointed to be a courier in Battalion 11, Region 13. He defected because he was fed up with their communist regime.
ជនឈ្មោះនេះបានឈប់រៀននៅឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ ដោយស្រុកមានសង្គ្រាម បន្ទាប់មកឈ្មោះនេះបានធ្វើជាទ័ពស្រុករបស់ខ្មាំងនៅក្នុងស្រុក១០៥ នៅឆ្នាំ១៩៧២ ហើយក៏បានប្រធានភូមិឈ្មោះ ស៊ីម បញ្ជូនឱ្យទៅរៀន ក្បួនយុទ្ធសាស្ដ្រនៅភ្នំដំរីរមៀល១ខែកន្លះ។ បន្ទាប់ពីហាត់រៀនចប់ ឈ្មោះនេះបានចេញទៅធ្វើការត្រៀមនៅភូមិអូរស្មាច់ ហើយធ្លាប់បាន វាយជាមួយកងទ័ពជាតិចំនួន៥ដង។ បន្ទាប់មកទៀតត្រូវបានមេបញ្ជា ការឈ្មោះ ស៊ន បានតែងតាំងឈ្មោះនេះជានិរសារប្រចាំកង វរសេនាតូច១១ ប្រចាំតំបន់១៣។ មូលហេតុការចុះចូលនេះដោយ ធុញទ្រាន់នឹងរបបកុម្មុយនិស្ដរបស់ខ្មាំង។
