On July 3, 1974 at 16pm. Mei SoThy and his family defected to the government because they couldn't bear the oppression and lacking of food. The people were forced to work in field and paid 40% to Angkar. The food was restricted to be eaten:
-Children from 1-2 years eat one thangs(30Kg of rice) -Children from 3-5 years eat five thangs -Children from 6-10 years eat 8 thangs -People who can work eat 12 thangs -Out of working age eat 8 thangs Mei Sothy said there were only 40 soldiers in Tria Commune and other 40 women were training to join district army. ថ្ងៃទី៣ កក្កដា១៩៧៤ ម៉ោង១៦រសៀល មានឈ្មោះ ម៉ី សុធី ព្រមទាំងក្រុមគ្រួសារ មានប្រពន្ធ «ពុកម្ដាយ បានសុំមកចុះចូលជា មួយអាជ្ញាធរ មូលហេតុដោយសារខ្លួនមិនអាចទ្រាំទ្រនិងការជិះជាន់ពី សំណាក់ខាំ្មង និងខ្វះខាតស្បៀងអាហារ។ មិនតែប៉ុណ្ណោះពួកអង្គការ ទាំងនោះតម្រូវឱ្យប្រជាជនធ្វើស្រែដោយយក៤០ភាគរយនិងកំរិត ឱ្យប្រជាជនបរិភោគក្នុងមួយឆ្នាំចំពោះមនុស្សពេញវ័យហូប១២ថាំង មនុស្សចាស់ធ្វើការលែងកើតឱ្យហូប ៨ថាំង កេ្មងអាយុពី១-២ឆ្នាំ ហូបមួយថាំង កេ្មងពីអាយុ២-៥ឆ្នាំ ហូប៥ថាំង កេ្មងអាយុពី៥-១០ឆ្នាំឱ្យហូប៨ថាំង។ គាត់បានបញ្ជាក់ទៀតថា នៅសង្កាត់ទ្រា មានទ័ព៤០នាក់ប៉ុណ្ណោះ និងនារី៤០នាក់ទៀតកំពុងហ្វឹកហាត់បញ្ចូល ទ័ពស្រុក។
