Chi Lean, who was apprehended on February 25, 1974, by battalion 253, Takeo sub-military operation sector, was a communist soldier in platton 1, positioned in district 107 (Treang district), region 13. The platoon had 30 combatants not enough weapons. And there was shortage in most of the fields, especially medicine, food and clothes. Most of the army wanted to flee home, but they couldn't afford because enemies kept watching them. The army's spirit was deteriorated because South Vietnam did not allow their products to be imported into Cambodia.
ជី លាន ត្រូវបានចាប់ខ្លួននៅថ្ងៃទី២៥ កុម្ភៈ ១៩៧៤ ២៥៣ផ្នែក សឹករងតាកែវ។ ជននេះជាយុទ្ធជនខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដ ក្នុងកងអនុសេនា តូច១ ដែលប្រចាំការក្នុងស្រុក១០៧ (ស្រុកទ្រាំង) នេះ តំបន់១៣។ ក្នុងកងអនុសេនាតូចលេខ១ មានកម្លាំងចំនួន៣០នាក់ អាវុធមាន មិនគ្រប់គ្នាទេ ហើយមានការខ្វះខាតស្ទើរគ្រប់វិស័យ ជាពិសេស ថ្នាំពេទ្យ ស្បៀងអាហារ និងសម្លៀកបំពាក់។ យុទ្ធជននៅក្នុងកង នេះភាគច្រើនចង់រត់ទៅផ្ទះវិញ តែមិនអាចសមេ្រចគោលបំណងឡើយ ព្រោះត្រូវខ្មាំងឃ្លាំមើលដិតដល់ណាស់។ ទឹកចិត្ដយុទ្ធជនខ្មាំងធ្លាក់ចុះ ដោយសារពួកយួនខាងត្បូងបិទមិនឱ្យនាំផលិតផលមកលក់នៅក្នុងដីខ្មែរ។
