Main Crime Location :

Main Crime Details :
Forced labor

From 1976 to 1977, many people (including myself) were ordered to transplant one hundred and fifty rice seedlings per day. We worked from seven or eight a.m. to eleven a.m., at which point we ate rice soup. After a half an hour break, we went back to the paddy field and continued to work from eleven thirty a.m. to six p.m. In terms of transplanting rice seedlings, each group of two was supposed to transplant rice seedlings for an area of thirty square meters. If a group did not finish the assigned task, they were not allowed to eat.

After transplanting rice seedlings, I was ordered to grow tapioca and build rice dykes, during which period I carried two square meters of soil four times a day. I worked in a female vanguard mobile work brigade in Lvea village, Kampong Chenkhangtbaung commune, Stung district, Kampong Thom province. Ngouen Neary, a woman who came from the southwest zone, supervised my mobile work brigade. I do not know who her superiors were. I also do not know why they assigned the mobile work brigade to build dams and rice dykes. I am not aware of any other activities that occurred under the regime. I did not participate in building the 30 September dam.
Other Crime :
Forced marriage

In the transplanting season of 1976, I was forced to marry a man named Sim Nuon, who I had never met before. During our ceremony, seven couples were forced to claim that they would live together as husband and wife until death did them part. Later on, the other six couples were sent back to their work unit. After the marriage ceremony, [my husband] and I lived together for only a week. We were then assigned to work in our own unit. Ta Tann, chief of a female unit, presided over the wedding ceremony, which took place in Po village, Kampong Chenkhangtbaung commune, Stung district, Kampong Thom province.

I do not know why they forced me get married. At the time, I agreed with the arrangement because I was afraid of being taken away. I do not know who ordered Ta Tan to arrange this marriage for us.
