San Yem, 23, Chief of Platoon, was born in Rormeas Hek District, Svay Rieng Province. Yem joined the army in Rormeas Hek District in 1970. In 1971, Sokh transferred Yem to Battalion 117 in 1972 and to cell 73 where Sokh held the post as a chief of Platoon until late 1972. Phuon and Phan indoctrinated Yem and sent him to join the Free Khmer movement and infiltrate into unit 73 to expand forces, convince soldiers to counter the revolution and flee home. In 1975, Phuon and Phan assigned Yem to infiltrate into unit 502 to expand forces, prepare for July 1976 plots and destroy important materials.
សន យ៉ែម អាយុ ២៣ឆ្នាំ ជាប្រធានកងអនុសេនាតូច កើតនៅស្រុក រមាសហែក ខេត្ដស្វាយរៀង ។ ចូលធ្វើកងទព័នៅស្រុករមាសហែក ឆ្នាំ ១៩៧០ ។ ឆ្នាំ ១៩៧១ សុខ ដក យ៉ែម ឱ្យមក កងវរៈសេនាតូច ១១៧ និង ១៩៧២ ដកមកកង ៧៣ ហើយឱ្យ នាទីជាប្រធានកងអនុសេនាតូច ដល់ចុងឆ្នាំ ១៩៧២ ភួន និង ផាន អប់រំ យ៉ែម បញ្ជូនក្នុងចលនាខ្មែរសេរី បង្កប់ក្នុងអង្គភាព ៧៣ ដើម្បីពង្រីកកំលាំង ចលនាយុទ្ធជនឱ្យប្រឆាំងបដិវត្ដន៍ ឱ្យរត់ទៅផ្ទះ។ ដល់ឆ្នាំ ១៩៧៥ ភួន និង ផាន ចាត់តាំងឱ្យ យ៉ែម ទៅបង្កប់ក្នុង កង ៥០២ ដើម្បីពង្រីកកម្លាំង ត្រៀមចាំផែនការខែ៧-១៩៧៦ កំទេចសំភារៈសំខាន់ៗ ។
