On June 29, 1973, Khmer rebels, who occupied the East zone of Siem Reap town, had argument with North Viet Cong over Viet Cong's proposal asking Khmer rebels to help them to attack national soldiers on the national road No. 5 and in Battambang province. The above Khmer rebels attempted to smash North Viet Cong some day when they had enough guns, because they didn't want to see Viet Cong soldiers in the mentioned zone.
កាលពីថ្ងៃទី ២៩ ខែមិថុនា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៣ ខ្មែរឧទ្ទាមដែលនៅកាន់កាប់ ភូមិភាគផ្នែកខាងកើតក្រុងសៀមរាប បានជំទាស់ប្រឆាំងជាមួយយៀកកុងយួនខាងជើងក្នុងរឿងយួនយៀកកុង បញ្ជាអោយខ្មែរឧទ្ទាមជួយវាយប្រហារខេត្ដបាត់ដំបង និងទីតាំងកងទ័ពជាតិដែលសិ្ថតនៅតាមផ្លូវជាតិ លេខ៥។ ចំណែកខ្មែរឧទ្ទាមខាងលើមានបំណងវាយយួនយៀកកុង ខាងជើងនេះថ្ងៃណាមួយដែលពួកគេមានអាវុធគ្រប់ដៃ។ ព្រោះពួកគេមិនចង់ អោយយួនយៀកកុងក្នុងភូមិភាគខាងលើនេះទេ។
