A source reported that on December 18, 1971, about 2,000 North Yuon Viet Congs Armed Forces came to set up shelters in forest with thickets of bamboo in the Eastern bank of Tonle Basac, Kampong Kong commune, Koh Thom district. The source added that the enemies aimed to destroy National Road No. 1 from Phnom Penh to Nak Loeung.
