Sam Thou enlisted into Khmer Communist movement in September, 1974 and worked as a village militia of Chan Sen sub-district, region 15, special zone. On November 26, 1974, Sam Thou defected to national troop by bringing along with him one CKC and 140 bullet. He was reenlisted into military authority of battalion 405, brigade 45, Chambak Thom village.
សំ ធូរ បានចូលបម្រើចលនាខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដកាលពីខែកញ្ញា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ មានឋានៈជាកងឈ្លបសង្កាត់ចានសេនក្នុងតំបន់១៥ ភូមិភាគពិសេស។ លុះមកដល់ថ្ងៃ២៦ វិច្ឆិកា ១៩៧៤ អង្គការបាន ចាត់តាំងឱ្យមកត្រៀម នៅខាងលិចវត្ដអង្គមុនីដើម្បីការពារប្រជាជនច្រូតស្រូវ ពេលនោះបាន ឆ្លៀតរត់គេចខ្លួនចេញពីខ្មាំងដោយនាំយកមកជាមួយនូវកាំភ្លើងសេកា សេមួយដើមនិងគ្រាប់១៤០គ្រាប់ចូលមករួបរួមក្នុងសង្គមជាតិជាមួយ អាជ្ញាធរយោធាកងវរសេនាតូច៤០៥ នៃកងពលតូចទី៤៥ប្រចាំការ នៅភូមិចំបក់ធំ។
