A source said: On July 26, 1973, about 300 Viet Congs and Khmer guerrillas moved from the Northwest zone toward Svay Sor village at UV997-737 in Stung Thom sub-district, Sotr Nikum district by passing through Ta Yoek village and Samrong village. On July 27-28, 1973, those enemies above divided themselves into 3 groups to deploy in villages as following:
- The first group came to stay in Ta Prak village at UV905-024. - The second group came to stay in Roluos Chas at UV920-737. - The third group came to stay at UV917-724, about 400 meters in the West of Thmei village. Those enemies attempted to attack our National Armed Forces Base in Siem Reap town in the near future. ប្រភពឱ្យដឹងថា កាលពីថ្ងៃ ២៦ កក្កដា ១៩៧៣ យៀកកុងយួន ខាងជើង និងខ្មែរឧទ្ទាមប្រមាណ៣០០នាក់ បានចេញពីភូមិភាគ ខាងជើងឈាងខាងលិចដោយឆ្លងកាត់ភូមិតាយឹក និងភូមិសំរោង ហើយមករាយគ្នានៅភូមិស្វាយស ត្រង់ចំនុចអ៊ុយវ៉េ៩៩៧-៧៣៧ ក្នុងឃុំស្ទឹងធំ ស្រុកសូត្រនិគម។ នៅថ្ងៃ២៧-២៨ កក្កដា ១៩៧៣ ខ្មាំងបានចែកគ្នាជា៣ក្រុម% ក្រុមទី១ស្នាក់នៅភូមិតាប្រាក់ ត្រង់អ៊ុយវ៉េ៩០៥-០២៤ ក្រុមទី២ស្នាក់នៅភូមិរលួសចាស់ ត្រង់អ៊ុយវ៉េ៩២០-៧៣៧ និងក្រុមទី៣ស្នាក់នៅចម្ងាយ៤០០ម៉ែត្រ ខាងលិចភូមិថ្មី ត្រង់អ៊ុយវ៉េ៩១៧-៧២៤។ ពួកវាមានបំណងវាយ ទីតាំងការពាររបស់ពួកយើង។
