While the ASEAN summit was discussing its relations with Indochina, Cambodia was locked in a bitter border clash with Thailand. The situation was puzzling since Thailand was the first ASEAN country to set up diplomatic and trade relations with the Khmer Rouge Government.
ខណៈពេលកិច្ចប្រជុំកំពូលអាស៊ាន បានពិភាគក្សាគ្នាដែលទាក់ទងនឹងតំបន់ឥណ្ឌូចិន។ ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា បានបិទច្រកព្រំដែនដែលប៉ះទង្គិចគ្នាជាមួយប្រទេសថៃ។ ស្ថានភាពមានការសង្ស័យគ្នា ចាប់តាំងពីប្រទេសថៃ ជាប្រទេសដំបូងក្នុងសហគមន៍ ធ្វើឱ្យមានកិច្ចសហការការទូត និងទំនាក់ទំនងពាណិជ្ជកម្មជាមួយនឹងរដ្ឋាភិបាលខ្មែរក្រហម។
