For foreigners, life in Phnom Penh was harder than in Hanoi. Vietnam had its own currency to be used through out the country, but it was not interchangeable between the Northern Dong and the Southern Dong. In contrast, Cambodia was the only nation without currency. The people had been divided into groups and receive once a month a specific amount of rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, etc.
សម្រាប់ជនបរទេសជីវិតនៅភ្នំពេញមានភាពលំបាកជាងនៅហាណូយ។ វៀតណាមមានរូបិយបណ្ណផ្ទាល់ខ្លួនដើម្បីប្រើទូទាំងប្រទេស តែវាមិនផ្លាស់ប្ដូរគ្នាបានរវាង លុយដុង នៅភាគខាងជើង និង ភាគខាងត្បូងឡើយ។ ផ្ទុយទៅវិញ កម្ពុជាគឺជាប្រទេសតែមួយគត់ដែលគ្មានរូបិយបណ្ណ។ ប្រជាជនត្រូវបានចែកតាមក្រុម ហើយទទួលបានមួយខែម្ដងនូវ អង្ករ បេ្រងចម្អិនអាហារ ទឹកត្រី និង របស់ផេ្សងៗក្នុងចំនួនជាក់លាក់។
