Before World War II, there was no major communist forces in Kampuchea. When the French returned in 1946, little by little resistance elements against the French domination developed. The Khmer Issarak included some communist elements.
មុនសង្គ្រាមលោកលើកទី២ យើងឃើញថា នៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាពិតជា មិនទាន់មានក្រុមចលនាកម្មុយនិស្ដធំៗទេ ក្រោយពេលឆ្នាំ១៩៤៦ នៃការ វិលត្រឡប់មកវិញរបស់បារាំង ចលនាតស៊ូដែលប្រឆាំងនឹងបារាំងកើតមាន ឡើង បន្ដិចម្ដងៗគួរឱ្យកត់សម្គាល់ ហើយក្រុមខ្មែរឥស្សរៗបានបញ្ចូលនូវ ក្រុមកម្មុយនិស្ដនិយមនេះខ្លះៗដែរ។
