In March 1973, the bombardment of US spreaded west across the whole country. Around Phnom Penh, 3,000 civilains were killed in three weeks. This made it possible for the Khmer Rouge to recruit many peasants by highlighting the damage done by US air strikes.
ក្នុងខែមិនា ឆ្នាំ១៩៩៣ ការទម្លាក់គ្រាប់បែករបស់សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិកបាន គ្របដណ្ដប់ភាគខាងលិចស្ទើរពាសពេញប្រទេស។ នៅជុំវិទីក្រុងភ្នំពេញ ប្រជាជន ប្រជាជននៅទីក្រុងជាង ៣០០០ នាក់ត្រូវបានស្លាប់ក្នុងរយៈ ពេល៣សប្ដាហ៍។ នេះធ្វើឱ្យខ្មែរក្រហមអាចធ្វើបានសម្រាប់កែនចំនួន កសិករជាច្រើនដោយការលេចឡើងពីការបំផ្លិចបំផ្លាញត្រូវបានបញ្ចប់ដោយ ការបាញ់តាមយន្ដហោះរបស់សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក។
