Stong high school prison

Detention in Stong High School Prison (Stung High School):

In 1977, I was jailed at Stung High School Prison for a month and ten days. As a former Lon Nol soldier at Kampenh Barracks in Sra Yauv Village (prior to the Khmer Rouge) of Kampong Svay District, I had been arrested in 1975, along with three hundred other Lon Nol soldiers. Initially, I was sent to Klaing Khaut Pagoda, located in Bralay Commune, Stong District .

Later, all three hundred soldiers, including me, were incarcerated in Stung High School Prison. In the prison, I was lined up with thirty other inmates and we were restrained by one long shackle. Three hundred prisoners were detained in one cell. During my detention in that high school prison, I was interrogated regarding my service as a Lon Nol soldier at Kampong Thom. I was jailed for a month and ten days. I did not know the interrogators or who ordered my arrest. However, I was aware that all three hundred soldiers who had been captured were Lon Nol soldiers.

As a result of my treatment in the prison, I have a scar on my foot and my hands become numb when exposed to cold temperatures.

Execution:

While escaping to return home in 1976, my brother-in-law, Kim Laing, was taken to be executed at Prey Prol because he was a Lon Nol soldier. Suon Prech, the leader of the cooperative at Thbil Village, arrested my brother-in-law. Kim Laing was taken to be killed at Srange Pagoda, a district security center. Siv Kim, a base person who was a member of the medical staff during the Khmer Rouge regime, informed me of this incident. Men Phim and Sae Yan were killed by Prech at Srange Pagoda, because they were Lon Nol soldiers who had tendency towards Lon Nol regime at Kampong Thom Province.

Suon Prech killed Tap Heak, his own wife, by beating her to death with a hoe at Tuol Trabek Village. I saw Tap Heak’s bra in Anlong Trabek pit , because her body was not fully buried. Her child, Suon Chaing, also saw her bra and knew that she was killed there. Villagers in Thbil village witnessed Prech telling his wife to make potato flour at Chamkar Leu, but in fact he killed her at Tuol Trabek Village. The killing of Tap Heak occurred because she married another husband, a Lon Nol soldier. When Prech discovered that his former wife had married a Lon Nol soldier, he executed her in 1976. Later, in 1977, Prech was executed at Srange Pagoda by an upper regional level Khmer Rouge named Chan, the regional chief from Southwest Zone, because he had killed his wife without detaining her in the security center. Phann Rim, a member of the cooperative medical staff, informed me that fish sauce was poured into Prech’s mouth, he was hanged upside down at the security center and then dropped down, but he was still not dead. I do not know where Prech was taken to be executed.

In 1978, knowing in advance that he would be taken to be killed and wanting to meet his parents, Chrip hanged himself. At that time, Uak Chhin saw the incident and helped Chrip by loading him onto a horse-cart and taking him to the security center at Baing Kanh Chakk, east of Prey Pros. I do not know the names of the security police. Uak Chhin was allowed to return. My cousin (Chrip) has been unaccounted for since because he was killed at Baing Kanh Chakk for being a Lon Nol soldier. I think that the security center chief killed him, but I do not know the name of that individual.
