Some American journalists who had interviewed hundreds of refugees believing that 1.2 million had died in Cambodia. Not all of them were shot. Many thousands failed to survive the forced evacuation from the cities, on foot, without water or medicines.
អ្នកការសែត អ្នកសារព័ត៌មានជនជាតិអាមេរិកខ្លះបានជួបសម្ភាសន៍ជាមួយជនភៀសខ្លួនចាប់រយនាក់ជឿជាក់ថា ប្រជាជន ១.២លាននាក់បានស្លាប់ក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។ មិនមែនពួកគេទាំងអស់ត្រូវបានបាញ់សម្លាប់នោះទេ។ មានប្រជាជនរាប់ពាន់នាក់ត្រូវបានបង្ខំជម្លៀសចេញពីទីក្រុងដោយថ្មើងជើង គ្មានទឹក គ្មានស្បៀងអាហារ ឬក៏ថ្នំាផេ្សងៗ។
