Thon Trayang left Cambodia with one of his five children on July 3, by careful footwork. On the way, he was stopped by the Khmer Rouge soldiers. He was beaten and left for dead. Recovering hours later, he collected his small son unperceived and made off.
ថុន ត្រាយាង បានចាកចេញពីប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ជាមួយនឹងកូនម្នាក់ក្នុងចំណោមកូនស្រីប្រុស ៥នាក់ដោយថ្មើងជើង នាខែកក្ដដា ថ្ងៃទី៣។ នៅតាមផ្លូវ ត្រាយាង ត្រូវបានបញ្ឈប់ដោយទាហានខ្មែរក្រហម។ ត្រាយាង ត្រូវបានវាយដំ និងទុកឱ្យស្លាប់។ ក្រោយពីជួយសង្គ្រោះជាច្រើនម៉ោង ត្រាយាង បានដឹងខ្លូនទៅចាប់ក្រសោបកូនប្រុសតូច ហើយរត់ចេញទៅបាត់។
