Although still a long way from the elegance and animation extrolled by travers before 1975, Phnom Penh could boast of a remarkable recovery in the last two and a half years. The city's population rose to between 400,000 and 500,000 according to the latest estimates.
ទោះបីជាពេលដែលនៅសល់វែងឆ្ងាយឆ្ពោះ ទៅកាន់ភាពដ៏ឆើតឆាយ និង ការសរសើរយ៉ាងមានភាពប៉ិនប្រសប់របស់អ្នកធ្វើដំណើរកំសាន្ដមុនឆ្នាំ ១៩៧៥ ទីក្រុងភ្នំពេញអាចទទួលបាននូវភាពអំនួតដោយសារការក្រោក ឡើងវិញចេញពីភ្លើងសង្គ្រាដែលឆ្លងកាត់អស់រយៈពេលពីរឆ្នាំកន្លះចុង ក្រោយ ។ ចំនួនប្រជាជនដែលរស់នៅទីក្រុងមានការកើនឡើងគួរ ឱ្យកត់ សម្គាល់គឺមានចន្លោះពី ៤០០ ០០០ទៅ ៥០០ ០០០ នាក់ដែល ទទួលបានតាមការប៉ាន់ប្រមាណរយៈពេលចុងក្រោយនេះ។
