The best account of the massive tragedy in Cambodia was shown by a French priest who in 10 years in Cambodia learned the language so well. The priest Ponchaud estimated that as many as two millions of Cambodia's 7,8 millions people had been wiped cut in the forced march and violence.
សោកនាកម្មដ៏ធំនៅកម្ពុជាគឺត្រូវបានបង្ហាញដោយបព្វជិតបារាំងដែលធ្លាប់រស់នៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាអស់រយៈពេល១០ឆ្នាំព្រមទាំងធ្លាប់រៀនភាសាខ្មែរបានយ៉ាងល្អ។ បព្វជិត ផនចូជ ប៉ាន់ប្រមាណថាប្រជាជនកម្ពុជា២លាននាក់នេប្រជាជន៧,៨លាននាក់ ត្រូវបានវាយចោលនៅក្នុងហ្វូងទ័ព និង អំពើរហឹង្សា។
