The enormity of the tragedy has been carefully reconstructed from the reports of many eyewitness. On the morning of April 17 1975 Cambodia's communists entered the city and forced the people to leave the city to the countryside and worked in the rice fields.
សោកនាដកម្មដ៏ឃោរឃៅបានកសាងឡើងវិញដោយប្រុងប្រយ័ត្ន នេះបើតាមរបាយការណ៍របស់សាក្សីជាច្រើននាក់។ នៅពេលព្រឹកនាថ្ងៃទី១៧ មេសា ១៩៧៥ ពួកកុម្មនិស្ដកម្ពុជា បានចូលដល់ទីក្រុង និង បាបង្ខំប្រជាជនឱ្យចាកចេញពីទីក្រុងទៅកាន់ទីជនបទ ព្រមទាំងធ្វើការនៅក្នុងវាលស្រែ។
