In March 1970, a coalition of military officers, students, urban intellectuals and businessmen mounted a successful coup against Cambodian neutralist chief of state, Prince Norodom Sihanouk. Then the Phnom Penh government asked the U.S to help in fighting the insurgency movement.
នៅខែមិនា ១៩៧០ មន្រី្ដយោធាចម្រុះម្នាក់ សិស្ស សហគមបព្ញាវ័ន្ដ និង ពាណិជ្ជករ (អ្នកមាន) បានធ្វើរដ្ឋប្រហារដ៏ជោគជ័យមួយដែលប្រឆាំងនឹង ប្រធានប្រមុខរដ្ឋកម្ពុជាគឺ សមេ្ដចនរោត្ដម សីហនុ។ បន្ទាប់មករដ្ឋាភិបាលក្រុងភ្នំពេញ បានស្នើរសុំទៅសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក ដើម្បីជួយប្រយុទ្ធលើចលនាពួកបះបោរ (កម្លាំងតស៊ូ)។
