While visiting Angkor Wat, the guide told them that, "We have not enough manpower to take care and maintain these monuments precisely." The apparent use of Angkor as a symbol of the revolution was part of an effort by the new rulers to stress the heritage and identity of the people.
ពេលកំពុងទស្សនាអង្គវតÒ មគ្គុទេសក៏បានប្រាប់ថា ពួកយើងពុំ&ៈ១៤២់នកម្លាំងគ្រប់�្រន់ក្នុង&ៈ១២៨់រថែរក្សា និង�ំពារកេរÒិ៍តំណែលទាំងនេះឱ្យជាក់ច្បាស់ឡើយ។ ការប្រើប្រាស់ជាក់សែÒងនូវអង្គរជានិមិតÒរូប នៃបដិតÒន៍ គឺជាផ្នែកមួយនៃការខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងរបស់មេដឹកនាំថ្មីក្នុងការបញ្ជាក់ពីកេរÒិ៍មរតក និង អតÒសញ្ញាណរបស់ប្រជាជន។
