As Cambodia fell into the hands of the Khmer Rouge-the opposition accepted a cease-fire and transfer of power. President Ford did not think that the opposition leader had the rights to accept the offer. Howerver, there was still fighting near the American Embassy in Cambodia-the embassy had been abandoned.
ពេលកម្ពុជាបានធ្លាក់ចូលក្នុងកណ្ដាប់ដៃរបស់ខ្មែរក្រហម គណបក្សប្រឆាំងបានទទួលយកនូវបទឈប់បាញ់រួមជាមួយនឹងការផេ្ទរអំណាច។ ប្រធានាធិបតី ហ្វឺត មិនបានគិតថា មេដឹកនាំបក្សប្រឆាំងមានសិទ្ធិក្នុងការទទួលសំណើរនេះ។ ប៉ុន្ដែនៅតែមានការច្បាំងគ្នានៅជិតស្ថានទូតអារមេរិកប្រចាំកម្ពុជាហើយស្ថានទូតក៏ត្រូវបានគេបោះបង់ចោល។
