The communist insurgency in Thailand was moving into an active new phase. In the past year, Cambodia had begun to assert itself as a patron of the Thai Communist Party. Cambodia provided sanctuaries for operational and training bases near the lower Northeast of Thailand.
ក្រុមកុម្មុយនិស្ដនៅប្រទេសថៃបានផ្លាស់ប្ដូរទៅជាដំណាក់កាលថ្មីយ៉ាងសកម្ម។ កាលឆ្នាំកន្លងទៅកម្ពុជាចាប់ផ្ដើមអះអាងថាខ្លួនជាអ្នកគាំទ្រនៃបក្សកុម្មុយនិស្ដថៃ។ កម្ពុជាផ្ដល់ទីជម្រកសម្រាប់ប្រតិបត្ដិការនិង មូលដ្ឋានបណ្ដុះបណ្ដាលនៅជិតភាគឦសានខាងក្រោមនៃប្រទេសថៃ។
