Senate leader Hugh Scott said that the U.S should use as much pressure as necessary for the removal of the Cambodian President so that a transitional regime could negotiate a truce with communist-led forces. Leader Mike Mansfield said Lon Nol's resignation would be Cambodia's best hope for peace.
