Cambodia was scheduled to open the ancient temple ruins of Angkor to foreign tourist for the first time in eight years. Foreign toursits had been prevented from visiting Angkor since 1970 by five years of war and then three years of Cambodian isolation under the communist regime.
ប្រទេសកម្ពុជាបានរៀបចំតារាងពេលវេលា ដើម្បីបើកទ្វារប្រានសាទបុរាណអង្គរវត្ដ ទទួលភ្ញៀវទេសចរណ៍បរទេសសម្រាប់រយះពេលជាលើកតំបូងក្នុងរយះពេលបិទទ្វារ៨ឆ្នាំ។ ទេសចរណ៍បរទេសត្រូវបានហាមឃាត់មិនអនុព្ញាតឱ្យមកទស្សនកិច្ចប្រាសាទអង្គវត្ដ ចាប់តាំងពីឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ ក្នុងរយះពេលសង្គ្រាម ៥ឆ្នាំ និងបន្ទាប់មកមានការបែងចែកប្រជាជនកម្ពុជាក្នុងរយៈ៣ឆ្នាំ ក្នុងរបបកុម្មុយនិស្ដ។
