Forced marriage:

In approximately 1977, I was forced to get married. Tren, who was in charge of the economic section of the cooperative, arranged the marriage for me and my husband, Ky Kheat. At the time, I said that I would not marry my relative. However, I agreed to marry him because I was afraid that they would kill my parents. I am still living with my husband.

At the time, I did not want to marry him because he was twelve years old than me. The wedding took place in Kbel Village, Sann Kor Commune. There were four couples: Tuy and Vy, Pakk and Dean, Yean and Maut, and Khatt and Chann.

Killing of my uncle, Prak Din:

In approximately mid-1976, my uncle, Prak Din, was arrested and detained at the security center, Yeay Sim’s house, located in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. When his cow died, they accused him of killing the cow. Pring arrested my uncle. His legs were tied and he was hanged upside down, and they poured fish sauce through his nose. When this incident took place, Prak Din was almost seventy years old. At the time, I was not present in the village. I was assigned to work at a regional mobile unit, carrying the earth at Stung Chynet, Kampong Thmor.

When I arrived home, my mother told me about the incident. My uncle was imprisoned for a short while and then released. Later, they killed him. I do not know when he died. I learned that he was tortured from my younger brother, Lonh Sen, who was Pring’s messenger.

Killing of my uncles:

Three months after the liberation of Phnom Penh, the Khmer Rouge began to compile biographies on everyone. My uncles, Prakk Chrep and Un Run, lived in Krasaing Kha Village and were killed on the accusation of being Lon Nol soldiers. Prakk Chrep used to be a Lon Nol soldier, but Run was not. My two uncles were taken to be killed along with three other people.

Run, who was hit on his head, crawled out of the grave covered with blood, walked home and reported the incident to us. He said that four people had died. He pretended to be dead. After 1979, he told me that Lay and Yoeun were the executioners. He told me that when he arrived home and reported the incident to his parents, his parents hid him in the forest for seven days. After his wound healed, he was sent to Chamkar Leu in Kampong Cham Province.

Forced labor:

From 1976 to 1979, I was forced to perform heavy labor such as carrying three cubic meters of earth during daytime, and one cubic meter of earth during nighttime. I carried the earth from seven a.m. to twelve noon. Then we had a break to eat rice soup. After the break, I worked from one p.m. to five p.m. followed by another break for rice soup. Then, I worked from six p.m. until ten p.m.

In 1977, I carried earth at Stung Chynet, Kampong Thmor. They gave us insufficient food to eat -- one can of rice for three people per meal time. We ate collectively. In 1977, I escaped from Stung Chynet and went home because I could no longer tolerate the conditions and I missed my home. I do not know who ordered me to carry earth at Stung Cheynet. At that time, I did not understand who was in charge; I just followed orders. My mother begged me not to escape and run home because she was afraid they would kill me. I returned to Sangkat Krasaing. Then the district chief, named Comrade Chhin, found me living at Sangkat Krasaing. I worked carrying earth during the dry season and transplanting rice seedlings during the rainy season. Transplanting the rice seedlings was very difficult, and there was not enough food to eat.
