refused to send rice to the Center, February or March 1978 ;notes: "There was Ta Sman, who produced rice at Tuol Preap. Trucks came from the Center to take this rice. And they [brought]a letter from Khieu Samphan. Ta Sman was drunk and said: 'Yee....Khieu Samphan is big. He doesn't grow rice or other crops and comes to take my rice. I won't let him.' And he didn't, so they went back to report the Center. Then they came back again. And Ta Sman refused again. He pach (argued)with Ta Phuong: 'Yee...let the bastard do what? He doesn't grow rice or other crops. Let him go hungry.' And he didn't let the rice go. Phuong knew Khieu Samphan, who was more afraid of him than a tiger. It was nearly 100 trucks that came, to take the rice which belonged to the Zone that produced it...from the zone worksite (kasethan). This was February or March 1978. This affair concerned the Center itself" (BKI 159 A-D, p. 416)
