They hated us. They raised the question of Chams being 'hopeless'. 'They abandoned their country to others. They just shouldered their fishing nets and walked off, letting the Vietnamese (Yuon)take over their country.' Soeun...said this several times in meetings of people from the entire district, beginning in 1977 and also in 1978 (BKI 135 (i), p. 607 A) ~ "After victory...we were told to go to the border to defend it, to fight the Vietnamese. 'To liberate Vietamese territory because it is all our territory.' Soeun said this" (BKI 103 (iv), p. 644) ~ addressed several meetings, stating that Chams were "hopeless," and had "abandoned their country to others...letting the Vietnamese take over...," Treang District, in 1977 and 1978 (BK, PPR, p. 283)
