Destruction of Thlong Pagoda:
While I was walking one day in late 1976 (unknown month), I discovered that Thlong Pagoda had been destroyed. Militiamen (who came from an unknown village, commune, and district) destroyed the pagoda, removing the wall of the pagoda to build a dining hall. The Buddha statues were demolished. The pagoda compound was left in unusable condition. I do not know why the pagoda was destroyed, and I am not certain whether it was an order from the upper level Khmer Rouge. In addition to Thlong Pagoda, houses were also destroyed. |

Arrest:
One afternoon in late 1976, I saw Nhe being arrested by an unknown female cadre. This female cadre called on Nhe, saying that Angkar had relocated him to Tipou Commune. I do not know why the arrest took place, but it occurred in Thlong Village, Tipou Commune, Santuk District, Kampong Thom Province. I did not see the female cadre arrest Nhe or escort him away. But I knew why this female cadre came to call on Nhe. He was arrested to be either executed or detained. |
