The Khmer Rouge destroyed houses, pagodas, Buddhist statues, religious documents, schools, hospitals, industries and roads. They disrobed monks and killed more than 1,000 monks and destroyed 36 temples, 144 monasteries and many other sacred places.
ខ្មែរក្រហមបានបំផ្លាញផ្ទះសម្បែង, វត្ដអារាម, រូបសំណាក់ព្រះពុទ្ធ, ឯកសារសាសនា, សាលារៀន, មន្ទីរពេទ្យ, រោងចក្រ និង ផ្លូវថ្នល់។ ពួកគេបានផ្សឹកព្រះសង្ឃ និង សម្លាប់ព្រះសង្ឃច្រើនជាង ១,០០០អង្គ ហើយបំផ្លាញប្រាសាទអស់៣៦, វត្ដ១៤៤ និង កន្លែងសក្ការៈបូជាជា ច្រើនទៀត។
