From 1975 to 1976, the Khmer Rouge forced me to give them my cattle and property. Then they killed my father, two older brothers, one younger brother, and one younger sister. They made me plow the paddy fields as if I were a cow. Then I had to carry the soil at Cheung Kros Dam. In 1977, they tried to capture me when I escaped to Thailand. My wife and children were relocated to Thma Puok and had only rice to eat.

In 1976, my family was still a quite healthy family. When the Khmer Rouge came to my house, Nhep and Toe ordered their forces to collect all of the property from our house. The property included eighty cows and other valuable items. They informed us that the property would now be owned collectively; private ownership no longer existed. When the Khmer Rouge took everything away, my father became depressed, could not eat for a month, and then died.

My younger brother named Sa Voeuy, who was well-educated, was arrested in 1977 by a Khmer Rouge cadre named Toe, security police and a commune chief. I learned that during a meeting, my younger brother stood up and criticized Angkar, saying that cadres have rice to eat, while the people have only rice soup. A few days later, the security police came to arrest him. The incident took place in Banteay Chhma Khang Cheung Village, Banteay Chhma, Banteay Meanchey.
