Thao aka Nang, medical person of P-31 Hospital, confessed that Ban, military technical trainer in Division 117, Northern Zone, was Ratt's protege. Ratt hatched a plot to mobilize forces and take control of the country in October 1973. Ban was a secretary of Standing Committee of Kampuchean Labor Party and poised to hold the post of Chief of General Staff after seizing power. After October 1973 plan was unsuccessful owing to the withdrawal of reinforcement force, Ratt assigned Ban to carry on ahead with the building up of the treacherous forces.
កែ ថោ ហៅ ណាង ពេទ្យ ព-៣១ បានឆ្លើយថាៈ ឈ្មោះបន អ្នកបង្ហាត់បចេ្ចកទេសយោធា កងពល ១១៧ ភូមិភាគឧត្ដរជាមនុស្ស របស់រាត់។ រាត់បានដាក់ផែនការឱ្យបក្ខពួកប្រមូលកម្លាំង ក្បត់និង ផែនការរំដោះប្រទេសខែ១០-៧៣។ បន ជាលេខាគណៈមជ្ឈឹមបក្ស ពលករកម្ពុជា ហើយត្រៀមខ្លួនទទួលនាទីជាអគ្គសេនាធិការយោធារួម ទូទាំងប្រទេសក្រោយពីយករដ្ឋអំណាចបាន។ បន្ទាប់ពីផែនការខែ១០-៧៣ ត្រូវបរាជ័យដោយកងទ័ពជំនួយដកចេញពីប្រទេស បនត្រូវរាត់ ចាត់តាំងឱ្យកសាងកម្លាំងក្បត់បន្ដទៀតនៅខាងយោធា។
