In 1975, Pol Pot arrested, imprisoned and shackled me for three months in a security center in the forest. Other people who were taken there with me were executed with hoes and sticks. Then some of us were interrogated in the forest. They asked us, “ Are you really a spy? I answered, “I only sell chicken, crab, and shrimp to merchants, not soldiers. Then I was detained there for three months. They released me when my wife became pregnant. My child who worked in the mobile work brigade died. Two of my siblings’ families were either executed or disappeared. Three families of my nephews and nieces were accused of intending to flee to Thailand. They all died as a result of landmine explosions. |

Additional information collected on March 22, 2009:
Detention:
From early 1975 to 1976, five security police captured me from my house, located in Bat Korky Village, Srecham Commune, Kampot Province, then tied my hands behind my back in the forest, and detained me in a prison at Sangke Mountain in Kampot Province. I was arrested on the accusation of being a CIA agent. The security police who came to capture me were Sos (deceased), Yes (deceased), and three others whose names I do not recall. Kas No (deceased), who lived in the village, was detained in the prison as well.
My detention lasted from the liberation of Phnom Penh city until early 1976. The prison chief was Ta Chen. Pho (deceased) was an interrogator who mistreated prisoners. The executioner was Phann (deceased).
During my detention, I was taken for interrogation twice, and it was fortunate for me that I was not mistreated. During the daytime, they sent prisoners to work uprooting trees. At night, prisoners were shackled. When they needed to urinate or defecate, they needed to call the guards. I saw Pho torturing prisoners and cruelly whipping the prisoners. I became aware of the killings because prisoners were disappearing everyday. One person might disappear one night and two people might disappear the next night. The morning after, we would see graves in the forest and there would be a terrible smell around the mountain.
Mode of participation:
I want to file the application form to be a complainant, because truthfully, I have aged. Additionally, I have an illness in my joints and am not able to travel. I am busy with my tasks, doing the farming to make a living and attending religious ceremonies (five times per day). Personally, I am satisfied with my participation as a complainant, because I have sought justice.
