The art sector, which included classical music, modern music, Lakhon Bassac, Yike, Ayai, Chapey, Chhaiyam, ballet, and various international dance forms such as folk dances, was almost destroyed during the reign of Pol Pot. All artists and archaeologists were slaughtered almost totally, and the sites used for research in archaeology were also destroyed by Pol Pot's government. As far as ancient relics are concerned, 70 percent of them were destroyed.
វិស៍យសិស្បៈ រួមមានតន្រ្តីប្រពៃណី តន្ត្រីសម័យ ល្ងោនបាសាក់ យីកេ អាយ៉ៃ ឈើប៉ី ឆៃយ៉ាំ របំាបាឡេ របំាប្រជាប្រិយ ដែលពិភពលោកទទួលស្គាល់ ត្រូវរបប ប៉ុល ពត បំផ្លាញ់ចោលអស់ស្ទើរគ្មានសល់។ អ្នកសិស្បៈ អ្នកបូរាណវិទូ និងកន្លែងស្រាវជ្រាវវត្ថុបូរាណក៏ត្រូវរបប ប៉ុល ពតបំផ្លាញ់ចោស និង បានសម្លាប់ចោលស្ទើរគ្មានសល់។ ចំណែកវត្ថុបូរាណ៧០ភាគរយ ត្រូវបានបំផ្លាញចោល។
