Summary / Abstract :
The author examines social, cultural and psychological theories abo ut the origins of genocide and collective violence. Individual chapters discuss the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide, the Cambodian massacres, and the "disappearances" in Argentina. He concludes with proposals based on his own research into the sources of "prosocial" (friendly, cooperative, altruistic)behavior. (Leonard B. Glick).
