The interview was conducted in July 1971 by Jean Lacouture and published in Norodom Sihanouk L'Indochine Une De Pekin. Sihanouk said his stay in Beijing allowed him to contact his underground movement in Cambodia and Hanoi. The Cambodian movement was not dependent of North Vietnam. He said the Cambodian people joined the communist forces because they wanted to take revenge against the American inv asion and the corrupt government of Lon Nol. The left was deserved to lead the Cambodian people to liberation.
