In April 1980, the National Federation of UNESCO Associates in Japan, in cooperation with the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and UNESCO, held a drawing competition for children in two of the most crowded holding centers for exiled Kampucheans.More than five hundred children between the ages of five and fifteen submitted drawings. The best of these drawings are included in this slim but powerf ul volume, which speaks to the horrors these children experienced when all of Kampuchea was a bloodbath. (Samuel Totten).
