Seventeen Thai Border Patrol Policemen and soldiers died in a fight with the Khmer Rouge on the border of Aranyaprathet District of Prachinburi Province. About 40 others, including three jounalists, w ere wounded. The Thai army seized 46 dead Khmer Rouge bodies and their weapons. Thai villagers wanted strong retaliation against the Khmer Rouge. An eyewitness said the Khmer Rouge came by the hundred s and started to spray a hail of bullets, bombarding Thai villages with all kinds of grenades. The intrusion lasted for 17 hours. Another survivor said he heard the Khmer Rouge shouting in Thai that t hey would kill all the Thais.
