On Oct 14 and 15, 1977, the Thai Supreme Command office told the press that on Oct 2 Cambodian soldiers had attacked Ban Hat Lek Village, and again on Oct 14 had attacked Khaowong and Ban Hat Lek Vill ages in Klong Yai District of Trat Province. The attacks resulted in the deaths of two Thai officers and about ten Khmer Rouge soldiers. Another two Thai officers and six villagers were wounded. On Oc t 14, the Thai Navy Commander, Admiral Amorn Sirikaya, said the Thai army, navy and air forces agreed to launch a heavy retaliation against Cambodia.
