Radio Phnom Penh extended de facto recognition to the new Administration of Thailand by mentioning its military takeover and its pledge of election next year. It was believed that Pol Pot was encourag ed by China to make conciliatory moves towards Thailand. The radio also mentioned that Prince Sihanouk wrote three letters to Pol Pot.
