Foreign Minister Upadit Pachariyangkun visited Cambodia with hopes to end border skirmishing and for resumption of trading and diplomatic ties with Cambodia. He said his main task was to achieve an un derstanding on border issues as each side held a different map. However, Radio Phnom Penh had said earlier that its borders were "well-defined". Upadit carried a letter from a Thai Prime Minister Kria ngsak Chamanand to Pol Pot. Kriangsak told the press that he did not expect all problems between the two countries to be ironed out during Upadit's visit.
