Ieng Sary crossed the border to meet Thai Foreign Minister Upadit Pachariyangkun in the Aranyaprathet District of Prachinburi Province. The two sides conceded that the past border troubles were caused by misunderstandings. Sary stressed that Cambodia had no reason not to befriend Thailand. Two sides wanted to exchange ambassadors and reactivate the Border Co-ordinating Committee. Sary brought with him two rolls of film about conditions in Cambodia after 1975 to show to the press in Bangkok.
