Summary / Abstract :

A number of armed Khmer Rouge soldiers tried to cross the border with the civilians, but were pushed back by Thai troops. Some refugees said that a few guerrillas had crossed into Thailand with them, leaving their weapons on the Cambodian side. They said Pol Pot guerrillas ordered them to leave when the latest attack by the Phnom Penh forces began. There were about 30,000 people in the Khmer Rouge stronghold and they believed most had crossed the border to Thailand, leaving behind only guerrillas and the sick.
